Hi to all,
Thanks to the evolutions proposed with WapcamServer1.4, here is an upgraded version of WapcamLet.
This version includes:
- Format choosing between JPEG or PNG (with WapcamSErver only). For those (like me) who can't have JPEG working within their midlets, this is pretty convenient. The major drawback is that network consumption is much greater
- Image Resize: WapcamLet now has an option to ask for captures fitting its screen size. Note that the image will probably not fill all the screen because the aspect ratio is kept 1:1. There is also a major advantage: you can have your webcam monitoring in 640x480 and receive only 96x65 images for example. This spares a lot of network consumption.
You can also choose yourself the desired format by deactivating the option and setting the desired size in the URL with the format:
http://myIP:myPort/shotDirectory?height=240&width=320
To activate or deactivate these two new options, simply go into the config form and check the selected option.
Bug fix:
- Whenever there is a network failure, the Java AMS displays a error message box, then tries again the HTTP request and so on... It becomes very difficult for the user to stop the program as it enters a "devil loop" which hardly reacts to key presses.
Now, in case of network failure, the midlet stops monitoring the camera, so that the user can choose the convenient action to take.
WapcamLet1.1 is already online and replaces WapcamLet1.1. For deployement purpose, the midlet name is NOT changed. This way, you can easily upgrade the midlet directly form your cell phone, wihtout having to return the download page. In case of, the download page is:
